Melksham has been Pat's home town since the 1970s. Pat has spent most, but not all, of her working life as a teacher of Home Economics. She is a Liberal Democrat councillor and her particular interests as a Town Councillor are in Planning issues and the preservation of green spaces within the town, the protection of allotments from developers, tackling the litter problem (head on, by organising litter picking parties) and the provision of suitable parking for visiting coaches.
Pat is the Town Council representative and a Trustee on the Melksham Almshouses Public and Eleemosynary Charitees Committee, which is currently involved in the renovation and preservation of the Melksham Almshouses. Pat is also concerned with the town's development, and to that end is a member of a committee working towards presenting Melksham as a Town of Flowers, in order to enhance our unique and historical town centre, and promote it as a place to visit.
